Why I chose here: The Works has always been a place to go with friends whenever you feel like and grab a gourmet burger. It is a super relaxed atmosphere that sometimes makes you feel like you are on a construction site, or having a student pic nic. The atmosphere of this place is really unique and I love the way it is themed. I have chosen The Works many times because of its casual and interesting decor, and because its a place you can take any friend for great food.
What I ate: Huge Gourmet Burgers, many different types of Fries and cold, cold, Milkshakes.
Appetizer Choices: I’m not really too sure if there is appetizer choices. There are things like poutine and Quesadillas that could count as an appetizer.
Entrée Choices:
Gourmet burgers - which can include things such as blue cheese and walnut chunks, to avacados and sour cream. These huge burgers can actually be substituted for mushroom caps as well. Such a fun and creative idea.
The fries here are good too. You can have normal fries, or curly fries, spicy fries, and if I’m not mistaken, sweet potato fries.
Choice of Dessert:
Milkshakes! I know milkshakes are more or less beverages and part of the main, but if you wanted to go to the works just for dessert you would probably order a milkshake. These milkshakes are almost just as customizable as the gourmet burgers -- there are too many flavours to choose from.

The Works is located all around Ottawa so there really isn’t a good reason to say why you haven’t been. Its a fun place to get away and enjoy a different kind of dining out. The menu and ambiance is a lot of fun, and it gets even better in the summer when they open up the ‘patio’.
Drinks: The milkshakes are delicious! They come in soooo many different flavours and you can mix and match as well. Just make sure you pick a good flavour because you’re getting a lot of milkshake. I love how the milkshakes come in either 1cup or 2cup measuring cups with a straw. As a student it made me realize what a great vessel a measuring cup really is.
Entree: The burgers are quite large, so make sure when you come to The Works that you have a good appetite and don’t fill your stomach up too much with the shakes. The arrangements of burgers are fabulous, and reading the list of them is quite fun. Its worth making the trip and getting something completely out of the blue. Most of the flavours go really well together, but there are some that just sound awful.

Dislikes:
The menu never really changes, which isn’t necessarily bad, but you can only go so many times and find the menu not funny anymore. I think their menu has some room to grow and change every year or so so keep surprising customers.
